The rainy campsite scene
Camping in the rain is uncomfortable, but the time spent under a tarp, listening to the rain and watching the fire, is special. This scene shows a cloudy night without stars, rain falling at a slant, and a campfire burning through it.
What makes this scene different
- Rain falls across the whole picture and the sky is dark, with no stars.
- The fire is a little smaller than in the other scenes and throws fewer sparks, but gives off more smoke.
- The default sound is led by the rain, with the fire crackle low underneath. Crickets are off.
Ways to use it
Balance rain and fire. Rain easily covers other sounds. To hear more of the wood, lower the rain to 40–50 and raise the fire crackle to 80. To hear mostly rain, bring the crackle down to about 20. More combinations are in Sound mixes for every mood.
As a background for work. Steady rain masks surrounding noise, which is why many people work to it. See A background for work and study.
On a day when it is really raining. Open the window a little and play this scene, and the real rain blends with the picture. In that case, turn the rain sound off in Sound and display.
